Never liked it. Probably because of the horrendous video with that ridiculous haircut.

There is a bunch of mid tempo songs that i love, like getaway car and the last remaining light....those two could have been in Euphoria Morning.
I remember being blown away that the rage guys were capable of doing this music that was so much Cornell´s vision. It brought a new depth to them.

Oh and Nothing Left To Say But Goodbye is just huge. Inmense. That ending...

Totally agree.

I have a good friend who really loves Classic Rock and oldies. It was like pulling teeth to get him into anything I liked during the 90s. But he fellin love with Euphoria Morning. And when Audioslave came out, he was so excited. I bought the record and played it for him and I thought he was gonna shit his pants. He hated it SO much. HATED it.

He said, "I mean, clearly this isn't the music Chris Cornell wants to make. This is just a means to get back in the public eye so he can make the music he really wants to make."

I said, "What does he really want to make? Euphoria Morning 2?"

"Well, yeah. Obviously. He clearly loves that kind of music and he's so great at it. This is garbage. He can't possibly want to make this."

I was all, "Um... you do remember he was in Soundgarden right?"

oh SG and Audioslave are very different beasts. Its pretty well documented that Chris needed someone else to play with, specially because he was fucked up at the time...but the main reason they did the band was because they got along just fine musically speaking. They wrote a few songs and the rage guys were exited because of how different the music was.

I loved the first record when it came out but it was hard to see him in another band. Soundgarden will always remain as my favorite thing from him and, perhaps, the 90s.

Oh yeah, totally different animals. As further shown by how you and I each prefer the other. But I think Audioslave is a lot closer to Soundgarden than to Euphoria Morning, in general.

Oh i feel the exact opposite...i see EM as a Soundgarden album the band wasnt interested in doing. If you listen to a lot of Chris´s music in DOTU or SU , EM makes sense as an album from the band. I would kill to listen to it...but Kim and Ben i guess werent interesting in mellowing down...and the band was a mess too.

Yeah, I guess I was thinking of all the pre-SU Soundgarden stuff. I agree that Cornell and the gang shifted a bit. EU could have been a SG album, yeah. For sure. I think my friend just didn't like the harder edge that Audioslave had. Especially on something like Cochise and Show Me How to Live. And those songs, that edge, is something from Chris's past and those early more "metal" Soundgarden records. And since I was kind of familiar with that stuff, the harder Audioslave sound didn't shock or surprise or offend me like it did for him.

Oh yeah totally i can see that. SG´s badmotorfinger was a pretty big influence on tom back in the day. At the time it felt like the return of Chris to some heavy music too...

Gosh, i still remember being fuckin exited watching the cochise video...it was so cool.
