Just found this thread. I am a HUGE Watt fan. Most favorite are Minutemen and solo stuff (especially w/Nels Cline -- those dudes have great chemistry together).
Favorite album: What Makes a Man Start Fires?
Close second: Contemplating the Engine Room
Favorite song: Plight (Best line: "Do some hobbies / Then drink to forget")
The man is a total one-off. His sound, his language (ever hear the guy speak?), his commitment to his ethos...
Have seen him live 6-7 times I'd say. I've told the story elsewhere on RM about when he slept over my house. My entry to Watt was via Ed on the Ball-hog or Tugboat? record, but the Minutemen eventually became deeply foundational to my entire life.

I'm not near as familiar with Watt as I should be. My experience with him has been the Minutemen discography, the one FH record I own, ball-hog, and his voice cameos on Daydream Nation and one of those Pearl Jam pirate radio sessions.
He seems like a hilarious guy but also dead serious. I'll always kick myself for missing his free in-store show at Cactus Music a few years ago.

Yeah, his chemistry with Cline is great. I hope they do more stuff together.
I agree completely. My impression is that Nels will go wherever the work is, and I know he loves working with Watt. But Watt's been pretty committed to Tom and Raul for quite a while now.

I wasn't a huge fan of Hyphenated Man. Was a blast to see live, but the record didn't really hold up. I've fallen out of touch with his other projects (Dos and whatnot). But Minutemen, and the first two Watt records, still get a lot of regular play in my life (I never really latched on to fIREHOSE).

that live show was the download that came with the black friday record store day vinyl (instead of an actual album download). doesn't appear it has received any sort of physical release.
