Political rumor: There is speculation that Rick Perry is going to become Department of Homeland Security Secretary, being a former Texas governor at least border security is something he may have a clue about. Of course that was the old job of General Kelly, who is now Chief of Staff. Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) would be tabbed for Energy. He of course represents the state most identified with the coal industry. That would open up a senate seat in which the newly converted Republican governor would pick the replacement, giving the Republicans another spot to bring their total to 53.

Lawfareblog points out that this implies a possible obstruction case, which would involve actions taken AFTER many of the other people being investigated or interviewed had left the campaign/transition team. So...dual criminal action pursuits, or evidence that they combine to prove something much bigger.

So China and a North Korea have a mutual defence pact? If North Korea strikes first they're on their own but if anyone attacks NK China will step in to defend them.

If there's a silver lining to the day's events in Charlottesville, it's that this will almost certainly drive the wedge further between Trump and Bannon.

How do you mean?
I'm assuming that as this continues to unfold, Trump will face continued criticism for embracing the alt-right; and that there will be increased calls for Bannon to leave the White House.

I see what you're saying; it'll probably take a few days. There will (hopefully) be a wave of pressure for Trump to call out the rally's organizers for their views and their role in the violence, but he'll most likely do what he's done so far--refuse to call them "white supremacists" or "neo-nazis" or anything approaching a critical term. He'll stick with something like "people with opposing viewpoints" to be as non-commital as possible, but eventually he'll have to say something critical and that will drive Bannon's base wild. More likely than not, it'll be someone in the press office and not Trump who says it.
