I'm not sure there's much of a story to tell here. He was really withdrawn and obsessed with his work. Can't see how this will play without maybe animated sequences of what he was imagining and creating. A monster calls did it well

Colour me nervous

It's official - FOX is making a movie about JRR Tolkien! ❤️

Not that excited about this. Kinda feels like Aronofsky has lost it. Looks like a number of other "stuck in a new house" horrorish movies that have come out recently.

And no Clint Mansell. :-?

I think that looks way more nuanced and interesting than the "trapped in a house" genre that R2D is likening it to...But it has Jennifer Lawrence, and I've become pretty sick of her. I'll see it someday, maybe watch it during Halloween some time.

It is weird seeing Jennifer Lawrence married to Javier Bardem.

I feel like Bardem's career has been a pretty big disappointment since No Country.

I don't know. I loved him in VCB and I thought he did a ton of heavy lifting in Skyfall. But I haven't really seen much since NCFOM other than those two films. Biutiful looked pretty amazing. Still really want to see that. But I don't think his career is unbalanced pre and post No Country.

"Biutiful" was the only thing he's been in post-No Country that I enjoyed his performance in.

I thought his performance really weighed down "Skyfall."

But my opinion of "Skyfall" really soured on second viewing. It's a pretty shit movie. That second half is hideous.

That's fair. I only saw it once. And it was on a plane. My memory/opinion of the thing is pretty flimsy.

Saw him in Love in the Time of Cholera and that was pretty good, from what I can remember. It's been almost a decade so I'm hazy.

He and Jeffrey Dean Morgan should make a buddy cop movie.

I think his maybe-best performance was in The Gunman, which no one saw.
