Which do you like better?
The original Even Flow starts with "Freeeezin, rests his head on a pillow made of concrete"
Ever since, Eddie either forgot the words or just changed it to "Kneeeeelin', rests his head on a pillow made of concrete"
This bothers me so much. I assume Eddie just realized Kneelin and Feelin rhyme better than Freezin and Feelin, but to me the second rhyme is cooler...and the lyric makes much more sense.
How can you rest your head if you're kneeling? Freezing is a much more powerful lyric and it is just better in every way. It even SOUNDS better.
Eddie even sang Kneelin at Unplugged in like 1992! So this has been a problem forever. This, combined with the fact that the original studio version is the only time I've heard him not do a horrible-sounding growl on this word has ruined the beginning of Even Flow for me forever
Scroll up to the top of the previous page. This has been bothering you for almost a year now.

I prefer the Dave A re-record version.
Same here. This was THE song that started my love for Pearl Jam. The video was like a jolt of energy and I had to know more about this band. 5 stars, without a doubt.

My favorite version of this song ever. Start at 29:30, which I can't get this stupid thing to default to.
That is tasty. They're all locked in and what a difference it makes when Matt is awake.
They got Matt's drums sounding almost perfect on the last few years worth of live recordings. His snare has a nice sound, unlike some years previously.
You know...Eddie's banter live is hit or miss. Usually miss.
But I get a real kick when he acts like he's about to play an obscure song and then he plays Even flow.
The funniest was the night he played through Yield and then immediately after hes like 'now we're gonna play an album called Lost dogs, the first track goes like this' and then he plays Even Flow.
He does stuff like that a couple times 'now another one you've never heard before'. Ive heard it on a couple boots he'll make a joke and it always makes me laugh when he does it.

Same here. I was actually introduced to Pearl Jam through their hits compilation, Rearviewmirror, and that was one of my favorite tracks on that collection - really one of my favorites period. When I got the album a short while, it was disappointing to here - I didn't know which came first at the time, but the album version just lacked the vitality of the re-recorded version. When they finally remixed Ten I was pretty disappointed they just stuck with the same take, because the mix wasn't really what brought it down - it just wasn't a great performance. (I wound up burning my own version of the new mix, slotting the re-recorded single in its place.)
