This piece on the failings of the Australian right is rather good:

ALT-WRONG: The Australian right is startling for its incoherence

(I post it here because I'm trying very hard not to discuss politics on Facebook.)

Ha. I met him when he was Prime Minister. So my mind does this weird jaded thing that if I meet someone famous/important and they shake my hand, it doesn't matter what their belief is, I feel like I'm supposed to like them. I'm glad I never met Hitler.

Best of luck to the yes campaign in the marriage equality campaign. Result is later tonight.

Weird weird weird way to hold a referendum but hopefully common sense prevails.

Can see it being a win for the No campaign but let’s see.

61% Yes. I’m shocked it was that low. Now let’s see if it gets through parliament.

Quite the waste of money this whole thing.

It's probably a reasonable inference that the vast majority of the non-respondents are tacitly ok with SSM. That probably makes the difference between 61% of Yes based on mailed back responses to 75% of the total population, regardless of responding (with the extra % coming from people who would say "Yeah, ok, whatever (shrug)")

This is the greatest interview ever. I have probably watched it a dozen times now.

Like he's reading both sides of dialog at a table read for a play where Ray Bolger discusses politics with Alan Ford

What a mess.

Rangi, at this rate, you may well stand a chance of being elected Prime Minister while you're here, so best of luck.
