It really is. There are moments, but the consistent greatness is long gone.
This is what we've been left with now for over 10 years. Ugh.
The part that sucks the most is that they have intentionally steered away from interesting/challenging music in favor of attempting to write a bunch of "fun" live songs. Give me interesting and challenging in the live setting for a shorter set (if that is the trade off) instead of ham fisted punk & arena songs for three hours.

I'm fine with whatever they want to give us. Really. My issue is two albums in 10 years. Both of the last two albums would be more exciting if they were just another release in pearl jam land. But this is what we are left to chew on and they dont deserve the time allotted to them. If you are going to give us an album to sit with for 5 years then take more than 2 weeks to develop it. Show us some respect (yes that is a ridiculous thing to say and totally pathetic on my part but whatever).
They need to get over this idea that when they put an album out they need to fire up this huge machine and tour for years on it. It doesnt need to be such a big production. Quit being so precious about it. Write, record, release. Maybe dont tour on it.

It's posts like this that make me hope one of the band members lurks on RM.

I absolutely agree with what you are saying here. Given the choice of new music or more touring, I'd take music 100% of the time.
