So when my sister was here for Xmas, her husband downloaded Plex onto our Firestick, and logged in with his buddy's account. It's still logged in, so we have access to a ton of movies -- seems like he downloads a few a week -- but they are all mainstream stuff. Recently added titles include Manchester By the Sea, Moana, The Accountant. I wish he was into movies like Paterson or The Founder. At least we got Arrival out of the deal.

Y'know, for all your bellyaching about film culture and unengaged audiences, this is a pretty film culture-y thing to do, I hope you know that
Not really. This is just an educated guess. As I have said OVER AND OVER, if I sat down to watch them, I would approach the same way I would any other movie. Again, there are plenty of times when I've been surprised by a movie I expected to hate.

It is, though
You're giving me a list of your favorite and least-favorite movies of the year. Great.
And then you are giving me a list of movies you haven't seen but fully expect to hate
What good is that? That's useless. You haven't seen them, so you can't credibly critique them except conceptually, from a distance, so why are you listing them at all? That's snark. That's what you've claimed to be against.

And, just to be clear, of course you don't have to watch anything. Our time on Earth is finite and avoiding something you don't think you'll enjoy is a perfectly acceptable thing to do. But you do undercut your credibility as an active, critically engaged viewer if you follow up your list of least-favorite movies with a P.S. that says "by the way, I haven't seen these, but they'd probably be on the list if I had". At best, it's kind of a waste of time

I honestly haven't look at it -- I'm scared I'll get logged out and never be able to get back in!
Probably would be ranked in the bottom 10 if I ever watched them: Moonlight, The Birth of a Nation, La La Land, Deadpool, Captain America: Civil War, Nocturnal Animals
This makes me sad. Not because I expect you to like any of these films, necessarily, but because I hope you do see them, and in the case of a couple, that your expectations are shattered. You'll hate La La Land. Never see it. There's no question. But Moonlight and Nocturnal Animals both have so much to offer. Maybe you'll hate them, too. But there is enough in those films to keep me optimistic about your view of them.

I'm like that on my Xfinity app. I use the in-laws' cable service on it. Every time the app updates, I'm scared I won't be able to log back into it.

LV is waiting for filmstruck to come to PS4. I'm waiting for it to come to roku. Each are still a few months out. The collection looks great, but I can't speak to how well it functions.
