The board's server will undergo upgrade maintenance tonight, Nov 5, 2014, beginning approximately around 10 PM ET. Prepare for some possible down time during this process.

Seems to be a lot of mumbling going on that the Bucs will cut Doug Martin. If that is the case they'll have to waste a draft pick or overpay for Latavius Murray in the offseason.

Yeah I'm pretty confident he's gone. They can probably draft some dude in the later rounds but either way the bucs have a ton of money to play with.

Is Martin still in rehab?
As far as I know, yeah
If that's the case, the Bucs could place him on the non-football injury/illness list and gain a roster exemption. It would be a way where they wouldn't have to pay him his entire contract while at the same time not completely giving up on him.

Yeh but with his suspension and being injury prone I don't see them wanting to keep him

Martin has had such a weird career so far. Great year, shitty year, great year, lost year...you gotta feel for him. Hope he figures his substance abuse issues out.

There have been some whispers that drugs have been a ongoing issue throughout his stay in Tampa. That could explain his roller-coaster career.

I wonder where that came up--there was no whispers of that sort when he was here at BSU.

Mark Dominik said he wasn't surprised when he heard about the drug use. That kind of alludes to previous knowledge of his issues when Mark was the GM for the bucs.
I'm kind of amazed every player doesn't develop substance abuse problems, honestly. Huge lump sums of cash + guys in their 20's who are constantly in pain is a pretty good recipe for drug addiction.

I'm very worried that we're going to see more Ryan Leaf incidents with players getting incredibly hooked on opioids. Hope I'm wrong.

Thankfully the NFL might finally relax their marijuana rules. That's the only substance I would probably encourage NFL players to use for pain.
It's set up OK now where you'd have to be either an idiot or have a real addiction problem to get busted. The important thing to remember is that testing for that is part of the CBA, so if the union wants it removed from the list, the owners are going to want a concessions elsewhere.
One faint hope I have is that as more states legalize recreational cannabis, it has the potential to create competitive balance problems. For example, Le'Veon Bell probably wouldn't have been in the substance abuse program in the first place if he played for the Broncos or Seahawks instead. It's not exactly fair that many players can risk getting arrested for it and thus placed in the program while players on the Broncos, Seahawks, and now Rams, Raiders (wherever they end up) and Chargers don't have that threat.
He misspoke. He apologized. He's going to get destroyed. It's already running on ESPN and USAToday.
The media is about to come out like the guns of the navarone on his ass. It plays right into the majority of the media that still want him to be guilty of sexual assault.
