Sounds like this guy invented time travel so he could go into the future, rip off a new hope, and then travel back in time to a point where no one would suspect him.
I think I have seen that movie, LV. It was pretty cool, if I recall correctly.
There is some other WWII movie about dogfighting that the death star assault sequence in new hope is allegedly highly indebted to. Which I could care less about, personally, but it's still a thing that happened.

As much as Lucas has been faulted for his revisionist history of the events that led to the SAGA*, Lucas has never failed to admit where he cribbed influences from. He's been quite forthright about it.
*Yes, I include myself.

I've read countless Star Wars books about its history but have never once heard that film mentioned as an influence. Anywhere else either infact. I'll look it up.

It has a scene where the heroes are holed up in a room, holding off waves of Nazis coming down a hallway with machine guns. It is remarkably similar to when the heroes are holding off waves of stormtroopers coming down a hallway with blasters. If I'm not mistaken, it even has some of the same lines ("We're gonna have company," or something like that).
I've also always thought the Hoth battle in ESB owes a lot of aesthetic influence to the tank battle in Battle of the Bulge.

As discussed previously, you've not read The Making of Star Wars. It's BY FAR the most inclusive. I'll check tonight and see if I can find that particular title. (You REALLY need to read that book.) I wan't to say The Secret History of Star Wars may mention it, too.
