The board's server will undergo upgrade maintenance tonight, Nov 5, 2014, beginning approximately around 10 PM ET. Prepare for some possible down time during this process.
Onstage, we’re heading into year four of Pearl Jam having the exact same stage setup, props and lighting, the Lightning Bolt show. The lack of new material is entirely forgivable given the band’s staggering archive of material, but the refusal to update the stage setup is an interesting stick-in-the-mud approach to an ever-competitive live music culture- especially when the band's fans are well-known for attending multiple shows each and every tour.
Total creative stagnation? That's fine. But using the same lights?? Excuse me gents, I have an article to write.

maybe the rain delay caused eddie to be extra drunk and high by the time he got on stage
what else does a person do at a hippie festival

I love how he thinks that Eddie completely forgetting tons of lyrics is a "new" thing, and that the band have been "nailing it as always". Someone give that guy a time machine and send him to the Spectrum.

maybe bonnaroo is too organic to permit teleprompters
and ed is an old fogey and it was past his bedtime

I haven't read the whole thing yet. Just found it interesting that, given the title of the article, the writer uses the first several paragraphs to complain about the setlist in exactly the same way that the "superfans" he blames in the title would similarly complain about the setlist.
Not the strongest start to the article. Having said that, it wouldn't surprise me if I agree with some of the points he makes by the time I finish reading the whole thing.
So it sounds like the firecloud article is a must read?
By his incredulous reaction to Ed's severe memory loss and the stagnant setlist, I would say that he was hired to write the article, and hasn't actually seen or heard any Pearl Jam show prior to Bonnaroo except "Live On Two Legs".
It's like that author was complaining about himself. The whole piece is a contradiction. I vaguely remember him posting here. If he's a full-time journalist, he's probably pretty poor and frustrated.

Man, that article is tough to get through. What a crap piece of writing.
Although much of what he said seems to be accurate, at least regarding to the level of disappointment in Ed's flubs and the fact that they are still on the Lightning Bolt tour, almost three years after release.

...he’d rather be celebrating daughter Olivia’s birthday (she turned 12 on the same day, and Ed brought her out to sing Happy Birthday in a beautiful moment) instead of headlining the best festival in America
Of course he would. It's called being a good father, prick.
