My sympathies for the fans impacted, but pearl jam did the right thing, inflicting pain on the bystander populations (and this is more significant as part of a larger establishment of NC as a pariah state than the impact of the act itself) is one of the most tried and true ways of changing laws like this.
It also sends an important preemptive measure to other states

Both Bruce and Pearl Jam could have cancelled their shows at least a week in advance, if not more. I find it hard to be forgiving of a 48 hour window. At least Bruce can claim he did it as soon as the idea presented itself. Pearl Jam sat on it for 10 days.

Hand on my heart if the European tour that was to happen last summer took place and they boycotted Dublin cos Ireland didn't pass the marriage equality referendum, I'd have supported them. And they haven't been here in 6 years. Fair enough I travel to a few shows on the continent anyways but I'd have agreed with them boycotting here.
you wouldn't be upset if they cancelled, with roughly 48 hours notice, one of the continent shows you flew to and booked a hotel for?

What a fucking joke. I'm not even attending the show, but giving people literally two days notice is really fucked up
That is unfortunate, though I suppose it's possible they were back and forth on the decision for a while
They knew they were doing this before today, Stip. I'm sure they decided to do it the moment Bruce did, but held out in hopes the law would not happen/get reversed/whatever. The deadline to announce this should have been Friday, not today.

Nah we'd all go anyways. Huge PJ touring community where euro shows are more about hanging out together having not seen each other in a year or more. The shows are just a bonus.
