Earlier this month, the father of 11 told CNN he doesn't want to die -- but would never go behind bars.

"I'm just not going to prison," Finicum said. "Look at the stars. There's no way I'm going to sit in a concrete cell where I can't see the stars and roll out my bedroll on the ground. That's just not going to happen. I want to be able to get up in the morning and throw my saddle on my horse and go check on my cows. It's OK. I've lived a good life. God's been gracious to me."

WTF. This POS has 11 kids. The 'battle for freedom' takes a backseat to providing for the family. What a tool.

Sort of my thought, too, but he was older... surely his kids were all grown. Still sad they lost their dad/grandpa/husband over this.
Lesson of the day: Don't be a toolshed and you live!

Some of his kids are apparently foster kids and that is his only source of income. The state, lol.

:shake: seriously? I need to read more about this character...

Surely he's a farmer and has CRP land, too.

Probably what you'd read already, but hot damn.

Finicum told OPB the foster-care payments comprised a large share of his income. A 2010 tax filing showed Catholic Charities paid the family $115,343 in 2009, the public-broadcasting station reporter.

Maybe they were older. These were...eccentric folk though so I wouldn't assume anything about their personal lives.

No assumptions - that was more me thinking out loud (typing obviously). Just curious why one would pack up and leave 11 kids & a wife... especially if the kids are young (some of which are).

...and the assumptions comment was a lie. I do have assumptions. I'm from Eastern Oregon and grew up on a cattle ranch so the "type" of people involved in this are familiar to me. Just not understanding how one can leave their family, travel hundreds of miles, camp out in a gov. building, and not expect to get shot or wind up in jail.

Update: there was definitely a placard with the dead dude's pic on it that included #AllLivesMatter on a news report this morning.

How did Kid Rock talk himself out of joining this thing? It seems right up his alley.

LOL, the f'er had one of his big ass "I Love This Place" bars here in Folsom. Last year it suddenly shut its doors unannounced and they bounced out of town owing like $250K in back rent.

The FBI released video of the shooting today. I'm sure anyone can twist the video to "say" whatever they want, but it sure looked like this guy was going for suicide by cop.
