I got Waging Heavy Peace for Christmas and finally started reading it last night. i really like the mental-train-of-thought dialogue that feels like it's happening in real time.
I'm about 50 pages in and it's a great read.

I'm intrigued by that PureTone music device thing. Didn't he go on Letterman and talk about it recently? Any update on that?

He was a Letterman a couple months ago with it but haven't heard anything else. Better keep a close eye out for it. They won't be in production for long.

That could be sweet

Psychedelic Pill Blu-Ray
http://neilyoung.warnerbrosrecords.com/ ... u-ray.html
$18.99
Product Description
The first album of original music from Neil Young and Crazy Horse in almost a decade, including over 85 minutes of music new songs. Composed of both audio and video representation of Psychedelic Pill on a Blu-Ray disc.

Anyone know what the "video representation" is exactly?

My early impression is that he's either smoked too much pot, or he has ADD.
Either way it sounds like he could have one helluva yard sale!

Yeah, those are both apt descriptions. I was prepared for it based on other users impressions of this book, and I...kind of like it.

I hope this book doesn't turn into a long look into the past, though. I want to hear more about what Neil thinks about sound.

Its a great read. Im about 80% through. He definitely jumps around but tells great stories of the past and looks to the future with all the projects he continues to take on. It really feels like you are walking around his ranch while he just lets his thoughts and stories flow. II get super excited while reading it. Its fascinating. What a life he's lived and what an amazing persona he carries.

Probably those videos that are on youtube. The blu ray looks cool cause you get Horseback, the jam that was on the website about a year ago.

I had no idea that he was a model train guy. Reminds me of the HO-scale models that my grandfather labored over. It's a lot of fun to read Neil go on about that stuff.

This is what Neil Young looks like when he's sad:

YEARS ago on my old old old pc... im talking like around 2000? when I put a cd in the pc and played it on WMP, youd get lil info to scroll across the screen about the cd/artist, and it told me back then Neils a model train guy lol, I always found it funny that, of all the things it could tell me about Neil, THATS what it says.

But yeah im about 50 pages in the book too, learned a lot about trains, cars, and his distaste of mp3's... and it does feel like were just hangen out and hes talking.

He was on the Daily Show too late November/early December? to promote the book, was a great interview (and extended from what aired, so go to the Daily Shows website and look it up)

Im really loving the book... i can see how some would be put off with his rambling style...
I love it, its Neil being Neil... the story about being stuck on the side was great... it had no real point to his lifes story? it was just a few pages, it should have gone in a diary? but there it is, in all its Neil-ness... loved it

I'm looking through the sleeve of Decade now, and it actually reads a lot like Waging Heavy Peace. All over the LP there's meandering notes on recording details mixed in with a little reminiscing about Broken Arrow Ranch and Stephen Stills, all punctuated with candid photographs from his life. I find Neil Young's obsession with archiving himself absolutely fascinating.

Robert Christgau nominated "Americana" his number one album of the year:

"Psychedelic Pill" wasn't even mentioned on his list of 102.

Both albums are holding up wonderfully for me--easily my favorite music Neil has made in over a decade.
