The board's server will undergo upgrade maintenance tonight, Nov 5, 2014, beginning approximately around 10 PM ET. Prepare for some possible down time during this process.
Ash: If we get this done quickly enough we might have time to stop for churros. And that's not a racist thing. That's just a great dessert. Pablo: You know I'm not mexican, right? Ash: That's the spirit!
Okay I need to watch this.
How do i?
have you seen evil dead 2/army of darkness? I don't know if it would be necessary pre-viewing, but it might help.
And it's fantastic.

Have you not seen the first two EDs?
Saw the first Evil Dead long ago. Been meaning to watch it again.

new director for the next two episodes, apparently.
Ash: "Yeah, that’s true, but reading from it again can’t make things any worse. It’s kind of like spilling paint on a painting. It’s ok because there’s already paint on it."

I think episodes 2 and 3 suffered noticeably from Raimi's absence, both in the writing and direction. Perhaps the new director will bring something better to 4 (Michael J. Bassett is an awful director anyway).
Still wishing they had just made Evil Dead 4 at this point. Not that I dislike this or anything.

I don't know how I'd rank them but I've enjoyed each episode immensely. The episodes have gotten a bit shorter after the first one, and I think the tighter time is to the show's benefit.

While I do think that Pablo, Ashley, and the cop are TV filler I could do without, the bigger issue is that it seems as though the other writers/directors are reticent to push the humor as far over-the-top as Raimi does, and Raimi's crazy sense of humor is a HUGE chunk of why I love the ED series (the hugest, really). The first episode got it just right: Ash was a ridiculous dick and the gags were pure slapstick. But in 2 and 3, his character has been much more subdued and - ugh - likable. Subdued and likable is the last thing I want Ash (or this show) to be.

Man, there is not going to be a ED 4 so far.
Just deal with it.
I know that, I'm just saying I wish they would have made the movie instead of the series if this is what the show is gonna be. But it's still early.

I'm just really worried the non-Raimi writers don't get how to characterize Ash. Making him likable is the biggest mistake you could make. He should be an unlikable asshole. A joke. A schlub. A dummy who just happens to be good at killing deadites. I want to see more of the idiot who drunkenly summoned evil spirits to impress a woman, the jerk who talked an old woman into cleaning his trailer, the buffoon who made up heroic sob stories to get laid, the curmudgeon who told people cheering for him to "Get the fuck out of my face," the dolt who couldn't even be bothered to remember three words to save the world, you know?

He is still there. After all he punched that woman on her in chap 2 and burided the jewish couple with crosses.

AoD didn't age super well for me the last time I saw it, so the way this show has kept the spirit and slightly toned down the volume may just speak to me
