Fuck I love that song. remember when Pearl Jam took chances? Remember when they released THAT as a fucking single? And Vedder said - about that single - he had an audience he was proud of?

somebody else has got to hear this, please
so, go to 2009,
then august 24,
then corduroy is 2nd song
shut off background song by clicking top left.
you can only ff by song, not within a song, so ya have to wait for the solo.
it was the only mccreedy solo that has ever caught my attention. i need to know if i'm hearing things or does it really sound that good?
solo's in by at least 3:59. wow. listening now. just wow.
I really enjoyed that, but it doesn't strike me as terribly different/better than what I'm used to hearing. I tend to stay away from the more recent bootlegs, but that was good.

Mike is the reason I picked up a guitar 16 years ago. I still love listening to him play even though I figured out the guitar thing a long time ago. The mystery of how does he do it is long gone but he still inspires me.
I can't find a copy of it on youtube but the black solo in New Orleans 2003 was/still is pretty damn tasty.
Also he pulls off the country type leads with aplomb. I love his live playing on Off He Goes and the few videos I've seen of him doing River of Deceit. Excellent.

id like to hear him use a slide more
I don't think he should use more than he does now. There's only so much you can do with slide in standard tuning and from what he's shown his slide skills are pretty limited. He hasn't done anything beyond entry level when it comes to slide.

This is true. But I'm pretty sure he could pull off something interesting for a song and in reality I have no clue about his slide capabilities. And yeah, none of the slide players I know use standard while playing. Usually an open G tuning.

Red Mosquito and Man of the Hour live.
I just think it takes more skill than he's shown to make slide that interesting.
Yeah, he could probably come up with some cool atmospheric stuff, just hasn't really shown much with it. I think the slide contributes more to the tone in Red Mosquito and what he does on MotH could be just as effective with bends.
