This guy has to know that after an initial attack on the south, he would be wiped out, right?

Dead? What do you mean, dead? They can't all be dead! We were just getting ready to engage them in talks! To share our collective technologies! I had a whole thing I was going to do about, like, 'welcome to the universe.' They stood on the precipice of a new era. Their very dreams were on the verge of becoming true!

Sorry, sir. All scans detect no remaining life on the planet earth.

How could such a thing be? What could cause such wanton and immediate destruction? Who would have instigated this shallow and insignificant end, for the good people of earth?

Apparently it was North Korea, sir.

Any and all military action from North Korea can be seen as a desperate attempt for attention, and more importantly money.

They are really, really hoping to see Jimmy Carter.

They are the smelly useless unshowered upstairs apartment renter to wildly successful south korea.

Moving some medium-range missiles to their east coast. The sad thing is, in theory nothing would happen out of all of this, it's just some young punk trying to look good for his daddy's generals. But, one little mistake and that whole peninsula could be in trouble.

Threaten the US, maybe go to war for a day, then surrender and gain a few billion dollars. Seems like he knows what he's doing...

I would think if this turned out to be an all out campaign for the U.S., the end result would not include keeping the communist party in power over there.

Who knows... our gov. is so jacked right now. Wouldn't be the first time we've given money to a country or a leader and they've used that money against us.

Which is Russia and China's whole premise for not throwing NK to the wolves.

North Korea is the instigator, but it's how the US and China handle unfolding events that will decide what kind of story we're looking at.

It's not like we need a full scale war to handle this. We have seal team 6 now.

This is just a way for this young punk to assert his 'power' over the helpless people in that country. It's sad because the U.S. is already saying that our extra show of force in recent weeks may have contributed to this heated build up. So, we will end up scaling down, try the diplomatic thing, and in the meantime Kim Jong Un will be able to tell his people "see! The Americans are afraid of us, they are backing down!".

Then this will all happen again in 4 years.

 he's got an ego to feed. Not that he really wants war, he just likes the ability to throw his weight around. If he could get some money out of it, why not be an instigator and drama queen?
