I think Bob deserves a thread on here...
I can't say enough about the Marley doc that came out recently, just loved it so much. It caused me to dive into the music a bit, and I've just gotta say... there are musicians we are missing these days. I mean seriously, actually missing their latest contributions (that they would be making if they were still alive, I mean)... Bob is one of those. Sigh, I could go on about that subject in and of itself, but this is about Bob Marley!
I'll preface this with the fact that 'Acoustic Medley' is fucking great!
Anyway
I put together a playlist I'm pretty happy about. And I thought I would share. Enjoy!
Disc 1
1. One Drop 2. Do It Twice 3. Three Little Birds 4. Is This Love 5. Could You Be Loved 6. Natty Dread 7. Jamming 8. Get Up Stand Up 9. Stir It Up 10. I Shot The Sheriff 11. Exodus 12. Turn Your Lights Down Low 13. So Much Things To Say 14. Lively Up Yourself 15. One Love / People Get Ready
Disc 2
1. The Sun Is Shining 2. Roots, Rock, Reggae 3. No Woman No Cry 4. Satisfy My Soul 5. Buffalo Soldier 6. Coming In From The Cold 7. Waiting In Vain 8. Kaya 9. Jah Is Mighty 10. Time Will Tell 11. I Know a Place 12. So Much Trouble In The World 13. War / No More Trouble 14. Redemption Song 15. Acoustic Medley

is that the doc that is streaming on netflix? i've considered checking it out, not because i'm a huge marley fan, but because i'll watch a music doc on anyone. i do like marley, but i don't know anything beyond legend. and maybe this is weird, but i'll take jimmy cliff's many rivers to cross over any marley song i've ever heard.

I haven't seen the documentary you are referring to, but I have seen a few on him in the past. Unfortunately, they are usually half-baked and talk about pot smoking in Jamaica more than his powerful influence, but there's one I do remember that is really good, don't remember the title.
I've been a big Marley fan for a lot of years, though I have not listened in a while. Catch A Fire is usually high on my list of favorite albums. His Bob Marley and the Wailers Live might be one of my alltime favorite live albums - short but every live version on that album is absolutely essential. As far as collections, I always enjoyed Natural Mystic more than Legend (for those that only have the latter, there are no repeated songs between the two).
To jump on the point there are some musicians we are missing, Marley is maybe the greatest example. His music seemed to have some sort of power that just can't be replicated - though many offspring and random individuals (including Eric Clapton) have tried.

I am sitting here reading this thinking “hey this guy gets it.” I look up cause I gotta see who wrote this and it was me, 7+ years ago. Crazy.
