hey, @skitchp - could you explain please? I don't think you're an asshole. I mean, I do think you're an asshole, but just in general, which I appreciate in people, but I'm pretty baffled by your comment.

Appearing for the first time since fleeing Ukraine, Yanukovych struck a tone both of bluster and caution — vowing to “keep fighting for the future of Ukraine,” while ruling out seeking Russian military help.
“Any military action in this situation is unacceptable,” Yanukovych told reporters in the southern city of Rostov-on-Don, near the border with Ukraine. Then, seeking to make a firm point, he tried — and failed — to break a pen.
...a bad reaction to the Ukraine fucking up Putin's Eurasian Union dreams?
...yet another example of Putin's uncanny ability to know exactly how far he can take aggressive stance without introducing real risk, in order to keep himself a major player on the world stage and fuel Russian nationalist pride?
...an opportunity to use the Ukraine's current instability, the presence of a Russian-identifying populace in the area, and the West's post-Iraq timidity to "re-acquire" a portion of the USSR's former grain basket?
...the result of a lost bet?
...the result of a won bet?
...just the sort of thing Vlad the Lady Impaler does on weekends when he's drunk?

so does no one around here actually care about this?
seems pretty tragic, that the protesters went through what they did to get control of kiev only for this to happen. I think the pro-russian citizens living in the Ukraine have legitimate concerns but there is no way that having the russian military on their side is fair.
