bearing in mind there is no walkmen-centric next step you could take that would be bad, i humbly recommend proceeding with everyone who pretended to like me is gone

have you yet managed to take this next step or do you remain in an RM mixtape-induced paralysis, feather ruffler?

haven't gotten around to it, seeing as it took some time and attention to craft a mix that so effectively ruffled the feathers of birds in hell

I think I listened to Lisbon more than any other record in my collection this year. It's not even my favorite Walkmen album, but it works so well in different housework and cooking scenarios.

were you to make a the walkmen mix for a the walkmen neophyte, which of lisbon's offerings would you regard as absolutely essential inclusions?

Taking Lisbon apart piece by piece is as useless as disassembling a sky full of floating clouds. The charm of that record can only really be found when you get it going and then tend to your chores.

That being said, the record's poppier moments would sit well alongside other Walkmen songs if you were to try and hook a newcomer with rhythm and soul. Angela Surf City and Woe Is Me, for sure. Then Blue As Your Blood, and maybe Victory to cap the whole one or two disc introductory collection.

I'd work hard to make room for Stranded and Torch Song if the collection was a two-discer.
