4AD is offering $2 off of all National LPs right now. I may finally order The Boxer.

If there were ever an album that I would want to shut myself in to wholly enjoy an LP in all its vinyl glory it would be Boxer.

I mean, I'm very familiar with Boxer. I just don't own it on vinyl. Maybe i'll pull the trigger today. I've never seen it in stores, weirdly enough.

The drums are such a huge component to this band...at times I actually kinda wish they'd lower the volume on them on some tunes. To hear these guys in more of an aggressive acoustic-strum type of sound.

However, I do really enjoy the drums...does make them a hard band to fall asleep to though.

boxer > high violet > sad songs > alligator

By Jenn Pelly

The National have announced that their next record will be out in May via 4AD. This is the followup to 2010's excellent High Violet. Their summer tour in support the album will include dates with Dirty Projectors and a homecoming gig at Brooklyn's Barclays Center, plus dates in North America and Europe. They're also playing a venue called the National in Richmond, Virginia, which is pretty funny.
After the dates, watch the National play "Terrible Love" for Pitchfork.tv.

The National:

05-16 Ithaca, NY - State Theater
06-05 Brooklyn, NY - Barclays Center *
06-06 Columbia, MD - Merriweather Post Pavilion ^
06-07 Philadelphia, PA - Mann Center for the Performing Arts ^
06-08 Richmond, VA - The National
06-10 Raleigh, NC - Red Hat Amphitheatre ^
06-11 Pittsburgh, PA - Stage AE ^
06-13 Montreal, Quebec - Lachine Canal
06-14 Toronto, Ontario - Yonge Dundas Square
06-15 Columbus, OH - LC Pavilion
06-13-16 Manchester, TN - Bonnaroo
06-21 Scheessel, Germany - Hurricane Festival
