I discussed this in the Smashing Pumpkins reissues thread but I wanted to create a separate thread to keep from hijacking that thread.

I present to you all my Smashing Pumpkins bootleg mix for download, titled "Arcane Night Music". The title comes from the band's description of Adore before its release. The mix is 8 years in the making, as I had to track down all of the best sources of this stuff and wait out the reissues (which took like 1/3 of my original tracklist). Though the reissues are not done, I doubt they'll use much of what I've included here. All of this stuff is extremely high quality; most of it is studio or soundboard quality, with very few audience recordings used (and those I do use are all excellent). I tried to represent every era of the band, from the pre-Gish era to the final tour. I did a really good job of it, as far as I'm concerned. The earliest track used is a 1988 demo of "I Fall", a song so old it pre-dates Jimmy Chamberlin's entry into the band. The latest tracks, chronologically, are the last two songs in the main set from their final arena show (and second to last show ever) in Chicago. Incidentally, that entire show is incredible and I highly suggest downloading it if you haven't heard it. Overall it's a comprehensive look at one of the best, and most misunderstood, bands of the 90s. I didn't bother with post-reunion material because there's so much of it and most of it isn't that great. I just wanted to focus on the good stuff - which is also why there's a bonus disc of material that didn't fit onto the other discs.

I feel okay posting a link since most of this stuff is readily available for free online, much of it from the band's live archive page and from torrent sites. Still, I'll be replacing all of the download links below with a link to ZOMB by this weekend, so get it while you can!

Dude, this is too much. Thanks as always. I've always loved the versions of Drowned and Obscured from that hotel room in 91

No Aeroplane from Vancouver 97 eh? I love that version.

It didn't fit and it sounds almost identical to the studio version, and also because it basically fades right into the 25+ minute version of "Silverfuck". It was "Aeroplane" or the mostly-instrumental jam from the Denver soundcheck + something else. I went with the more obscure stuff, figuring people can track down Vancouver 1997 pretty easily.

I hear you man. This whole thing looks amazing. There's tons of stuff I'd forgotten about, and lots I've never heard. I'm getting the whole damn thing.

Did they leave Where's Vince? off Siamese Dream because it didn't have a SDesque song title?

Haha, yeah, but I'm sure that the version I'm downloading tonight (thanks to you) will be better than my old beat up mp3.

Yeah, this comes straight from the Mashed Potatoes box set with no remastering - all I did was chop off some of the dead space at the end. It's a horrible song, but it's probably one of the few documents of all four band members together in the studio at the same time during the Siamese Dream sessions. It's weird, random and not meant for public consumption - which is what makes it worth a listen on occasion.

I have a Soundgarden bootleg mix that is 99% done. It collects the best demos, radio performances and live versions out there. Unfortunately, because there is so much less of that stuff out there, it's only 2 discs. :(

One more thank you, for now. This kind of comp, when you're selecting from literally hundreds of sources, takes so much work. This is the kind of thing that may singlehandedly revive my interest in the Pumpkins.
