He tends to have releases in groups, I may pre-order one for the limited edition live set. This sounds good:

Sun Kil Moon & The Album Leaf:
Perils From The Sea

(Caldo Verde Records)
Release Date: April 30, 2013

'Perils From The Sea' is the debut collaboration by The Album Leaf's multi-instrumentalist Jimmy LaValle and Sun Kil Moon singer Mark Kozelek. The project began on Sept 11, 2011, when Kozelek, a fan and acquaintance of LaValle, asked Jimmy to co-write a song. LaValle, a long time admirer of Kozelek's work, said yes, and the track 'What Happened To My Brother' came together quickly. Pleased with the results, the two agreed to record an entire album. Kozelek and LaValle continued to work together over the following year, until 'Perils From The Sea' was completed. For the album LaValle chose a more minimalist approach to the music than The Album Leaf's large sonic soundscapes. The lyrics to the song, 'You Missed My Heart', Kozelek says were inspired by a nightmare he had in an Ontario hotel room. Kozelek's story-telling narratives playing against LaValle's hypnotic synth sounds and drums beats should come as a pleasant surprise to fans, and should serve as a great introduction to those previously unacquainted with these prolific and acclaimed artists.

Track listing:
1. What Happened To My Brother
2. 1936
3. Gustavo
4. Baby In Death Can I Rest Next To Your Grave
5. Ceiling Gazing
6. You Missed My Heart
7. Caroline
8. He Always Felt Like Dancing
9. By The Time That I Awoke
10. Here Come More Perils From The Sea
11. Somehow The Wonder Of Life Prevails

This has always been a fav of mine.

I grew so old in that house I lived in
They brought me here 'cause I can't take care
I lost my worth and my purpose here
I feel you cry, but I can't speak my mind

Will you hold me and never let me go?
'Cause I hated when you walk outside that door
'Cause I know I won't ever see your eyes
The eyes I gave you

When my eyes shut, they'll take me to the land
For fifty years I lived there with my man
And on my own, I lived for forty more
I watched you grow up from babies on the floor

To the beautiful women that you are
And I hated that you've gone away so far
'Cause I know I won't ever see those eyes
The eyes I gave you

The evenings fall, they'll drag me out the hall
Up to my bunk and drug me 'til I'm numb
But pass the haze, I see your pretty face
Remember me when I'm gone

You know I love you, though I can hardly say
And I hate it when you see me in this way
But in darkness, I'll always see those eyes
The eyes I gave you

It's streaming on stereogum and pitchfork. They didn't release it under their band names btw, but under their real names. You might find it on what if you look for kozelek instead of skm

I searched for Perils From The Sea, if I remember correctly, but still missed it.

I'll search for it again under Kozelek's name. Thanks, man.

It's weird, but I've had trouble listening to Koz since watching the On Tour DVD. The musical performances in the film were all quite good, but the man is a complete tool. There is even more "Wahhhh, touring is so hard, why do I have to do it" whining than in Radiohead's 'Meeting People Is Easy', and he totally disses parts of his fanbase ("guys without girlfriends", or something stupid like that).

95% of the time, I'm able to seperate the recorded music and the artist as a person, but his stage banter was just so incredibly douchey. It's colored my perception of his recent (post-April) stuff to the point where I can't work up the motivation to listen to it.

The RHP records all kick ass, though. Ocean Beach is untouchable.

I'll admit I don't know anything about the guy, really. Doesn't surprise me he doesn't really connect with his fanbase though. He seems like an awkward guy in general.

What does this guy know about hardships? He's an adult aged touring musician with low name recognition! HE'S THE KING OF THE WORLD!

Yeah, from the stuff I have read about him, he seems like a total asshole. But I'm pretty good at separating the work from the person. He makes some damn fine music, so I can overlook his assholeness.

album #5 this year:

Quote:
Mark Kozelek & Desertshore

(Caldo Verde Records)
Release Date: August 20, 2013

Recorded at San Francisco's Hyde Street Studios in March of 2013, Desertshore's 3rd release, Mark Kozelek and Desertshore, features 10 new songs co-written by guitarist Phil Carney (formerly of Red House Painters), pianist Chris Connolly, and Sun Kil Moon vocalist Mark Kozelek. While Kozelek guested as producer, vocalist and bassist on Desertshore's critically acclaimed Drifting Her Majesty and Drawing Of Threes, Mark Kozelek & Desertshore finds Kozelek singing throughout the record's entirety. Lyrical themes range from a day spent in New Orleans, an encounter with Church of Satan founder Anton Lavey, and the passing of friends and relatives. With drummer Mike Stevens (Sun Kil Moon) on board, this album finds the band in full force, making their way from the Motown swing of "Mariette," to the Crazy Horse guitar innerplay of 'Livingstone Bramble', to the delicate, Ravel influenced album closer, 'Brothers'.

TRACK LIST:
1. Mariette
2. Livingstone Bramble
3. Hey You Bastards I'm Still Here
4. Katowice Or Cologne
5. Seal Rock Hotel
6. Tavoris Cloud
7. You Are Not Of My Blood
8. Sometimes I Can't Stop
9. Don't Ask About My Husband
10. Brothers
