UPDATE
With the recent release of the album Gigaton, the Post-Riot Act Moneygrab phase of the popular band Pearl Jam is declared to be over.
The latest album is a glorious production with all the merits of exactly what this individual had been hoping to hear from his favorite band. The songs are outstanding, the performances are sincere, the music is unique and varied, and the album sounds amazing. This album seems to have been made the way they wanted to make it, on their own schedule, and it is easy to read into how proud they are of the result. The next phase of Pearl Jam is yet to be written, but it's off to a great start.
IMPORTANT NOTICE
With the release of the song Dance of the Clairvoyants, and the prospect of an upcoming album that *maybe* won't be a Pearl Jam "by the numbers" album, perhaps the end of the PRAMG is near.
Based on this one outstanding song, it seems as if the band may have remembered how to create something new for themselves, as opposed to for someone else.
I think this bodes well for the future.
My instinct is telling me that a new Post-Lightning Bolt era may be upon us. After the 5 years of touring some shows in support of that collection of tracks, and the CDM flop, we perhaps are in for a return to form re-birth of sorts.
Fingers crossed.
Check back here on March 27 for a full update.
--------------------------------------- ORIGINAL PRAMG HEADER BELOW --------------------------------------- The band reached a pinnacle in their belief that their own artistic expression was critically important following the release of Riot Act and subsequent tour. The bulk of 2004 and 2005 was their internal realization that they really weren't going to make a difference, and decided to solely focus on making money.
Hence the self-titled re-branding with an image of an avocado.

I think this band sold out by partnering with Target. I also think they betrayed their fans by giving into Ticketmaster, and starting to make music videos again. It's like they used to be cool but then they got all old and stopped caring about all the things that made them cool.
Was this about the same time that Foo Fighters were killing it (sales/gig wise)?
When I get sad about what Pearl Jam has become, I just remind myself that at least they'll always be better than Foo Fighters.
Are we at the last "becoming" of Pearl Jam? Or are there more stages to come?
I know I personally feel like it's probably cruise control from here on out. Some albums will be better than others, but I don't know that I think we'll ever see them put out another great album. I'm just hoping for a few great songs here and there. I don't think it gets lower than Backspacer, but I also don't know that it will necessarily ever be better than Lightning Bolt (which I currently think is just very ok). But hopefully it stays closer to the latter than the former.
I'm hoping they just stop with all the extra bullshit, record some music by THEMSELVES, and then release it. But perhaps that wouldn't grab much money.

This. And most of their income would be from touring and publishing now days.
How much money did the Summer Line of clothing on the Ten Club site bring in? Should we expect the Winter Line to bring in more because of the holidays?

Well touring is cool, but what do you mean by publishing?

I wore the zombie shirt from a few years back yesterday and my boy pointed each one saying there's a daddy etc until he got to Ed who was a Mumma. I laughed till I realised they had more of my money.

That's pretty funny.

I find nothing wrong with T-shirts, I like em.
T-shirts are cool. I have a few, and still wear one or two of them from time to time. But I'll always make fun of them for calling it a "Summer Line" and a "Winter Line." Like they're the Gap or something.

I enjoyed this.
