The fact that it's my 7th favorite song on Vitalogy only proves how fucking good Vitalogy is.
Fifth for me, but the same point is to be made. What an absolutely fucking stellar album. That album still feels as relevant and exciting when I listen to it as it did almost eighteen years ago. And this song is unbelievable.
One of the songs guaranteed to make you say "Pearl Jam, what the fuck have you done?", even if you don't mind current-day Pearl Jam.

Are we calling modern day pearl jam 1996 and beyond?
Just about every song written after immortality fails to measure up to immortality
I disagree with that, but then Immortality isn't even my favourite song on Vitalogy. As always I'm referring to post-Riot Act PJ

Not a day goes by where I don't mourn the fact that pearl jam may never again reach the august heights of bushleaguer, green disease, love boat captain, gods dice, soon forget, breakerfall, and evacuation

Double irony, I like it.

I've only heard this a few times live. In 1996, Eddie started it and stopped it at Merriweather. Saw it in Lexington in 2003 and NY in 2006. Both were good versions, but Mike wasn't on.
In Charlotte his solo wasn't just on, it was on fire. So fucking good. This song rules.
