Has there ever been another band to get such longevity out of only 3 albums?
they also have Spaghetti Incident and Chinese Democracy, they play a lot of songs from this one. Its also a personal favorite from me.
I wasn’t counting SI, but was including CD
I forgot about Lies, tho.
Lies is another one i haven’t played in a while yeah. Great call. I also consider use vol 1 and 2 two different albums
I do as well. I find myself listening to Lies more than any other album. I know it's only Live Like a Suicide plus four songs but those four songs I remember some Behind the Music-esque G'n'R special and Slash noted just how amazingly those sessions came together, what producer Mike Clink called "one of those magical rock and roll history moments". I really think the dynamics of the band really shifted after that.

In later interviews, Axl Rose stated that while he loved how the band sounded on the last four songs, he hated the sound of his voice. Rose recalled that his voice was husky and scratchy from the band's lengthy touring at the time, and if he could he would have re-recorded his vocal tracks in a separate session.
Axl's constant takes and double/triple tracking of his vocals is just such a different monster.

I’ve always just considered them a double album. If they had been released at different times, I’d be more inclined to separate them but for me, it’s essentially a double album.

yeah, i wish we could have a documentary of him working on his vocals in Chinese. Hell, even Use Your Illusion has so many different takes and tracking is insane.

I consider them a single album combined, since each are half shit.
likes rhythmic things that butt up against each other

Honestly I don't think he sounds any better than we he toured with Buckedhead & Co. and everyone was making fun of him. I guess he did sound better at some point of the reunion?
