Make your own 2-disc PJ Essential set, incorporating songs from Avocado, Backspacer and Lightning Bolt. Maximum of 17 tracks per disc.

Do you just want my favorite 34 songs or the 34 songs that would "have" to be on an "essentials" album?

An interesting topic might be; If you were to make a mix tape for a friend that had never heard PJ, and you could only include two songs from each album and two b-sides, what would your song selections be?

I haven't done this, but I would make disc 1 tracks from Vitalogy through Riot Act, and disc 2 track from Ten, Vs, Pearl Jam, Backspacer, and Lightning Bolt.

Were you just making the "essentials" as you would guess the record label would or the album you would choose, or a mix of both?

I guess I was anticipating what I think a reasonable greatest hits collection would look like within the limits Jorge posted, I didn't really inject any of my own taste into it (other than making a few calls where to leave off singles, include album tracks like Corduroy, etc.)

Great idea. Just curious but if Vitalogy - Riot Act is know as the "Middle Years" what do people call the other records?

Early years and modern years? I don't know.
