It's fine, I guess. Overall it sounds closer to a Frank solo record than anything (though I understand Santiago wrote at least two of the songs). Just not as much going on here as on their previous two.
No "Human Crime" is surprising. It would've been the high point!

no this is good, at this point I'd rather something guitar based and "grunge-roots" than something "weird"; there's good riffs and interesting chord structures on this thing
yeah, im loving the new one so far. Its weird, its spooky, i wouldnt call it calm or mid tempo. Feels these guys jammed a lot for this one, the songs feel more like jams that clear pop songs, which i love.
Nomatterday is an early favorite. You are such a saducce is another one, im loving the guitars on that one.
Saw the band yesterday. Holy shit. What an amazing show....these guys are so locked in and tight its ridiculous. Frank Black is in great shape, damn he just keeps going and going.....Paz is a force and i was really blown away with David this time. They seem so fucking happy too.
Probably my favorite show i saw from them.
