Is this post a continuation of some conversation I'm missing or are you just being weird?
All else being equal, a child will learn more effectively from a teacher who is not covering their face. If a teacher is too scared to be in the classroom without a mask they should be replaced by someone who isn’t. Irrational fear and the idea that you can hide from a virus your whole life is not something that should be taught in a classroom.

I'm confused. Do we not take safety precautions anymore? Bike helmets, seat belts, railings on balconies, safety goggles with power tools, hard hats at construction sites, hand washing, lifejackets, fire extinguishers in buildings, locks on doors, isn't everyone demanding that teachers have to have guns to fight off attackers? Why is it a mask when a communicable disease in prevalent in your community the act that demonstrates the idea that you can hide from illness and injury forever?

Mask wearing diminishes face to face communication. A teacher cannot do his or her job to the best of their ability if they are wearing a mask everyday. Covid has never presented a significant statistical risk to children. (See death rates in children during an average flu season and compare that to the entire covid pandemic). The negative impact of masks in classrooms outweighs any perceived feelings of safety. If governments truly cared about safety in public schools, they would have been investing in improved ventilation in classrooms since day one of the pandemic.

I have 3 young kids, elementary school age during the pandemic. I live in a neighborhood where most parents are friends, hang out. There’s kids of all ages here. I’ve never heard one complain about wearing a mask.
