Also, I thought they were pretty good in arenas. Granted, I pushed my mid-30s self up to the front because I also had mostly seen them in smaller venues, but I thought all in all it was a quality show. While I don't necessarily think they got better with a newer sound on the last few albums, I do consider them to be growth. Can't make garage blues in a two-piece band forever and not just run out of ideas and steam.

Whoever talked about Auerbach's solo album, kudos. Maybe one of my favorite albums last decade. Loved it.

I agree that they needed to grow. I just still think I like their old stuff better...it was just so fucking badass with that voice of his and that raw guitar tone. And I also enjoy his solo record quite a bit.

Luther, a fantastic BBC series, ended last week, they used Never Gonna Give You Up to close the last scene.

I love that tune.

Just started to get into that one recently as it never grabbed me right away. It's definitely on par with the BK albums, but I wouldn't call it my favourite. Either way, isn't an Auerbach the main engine behind the black keys.

How much writing/influence does the Patrick Carney really have on the BK songs anyways? He probably has more influence on the recordings/sound than the music itself.

I never went on to listen to their second album. I appreciated their stripped down, bare bones blues on the first album so much, that I was afraid they would change.

What's the logical choice, the second album next?

Yes, then Rubber Factory.

They push the 2 guy garage sound into Magic Potion but then expand from there. Magic Potion is fine but the songs are not as good as previous efforts.
