Pulled a dad this morning. Oatmeal w/ dried cranberries, chia, and almond butter
my man.
because i'm a newb when it comes to using chia seeds i have to remember to add a little more water. i forget the chia soaks up a lot.
Yeah definitely. And gotta let it sit for a bit or let it cook in. I used a packet of instant oatmeal today bc I have a leftover box of it from when I was moving and needed easy meals. I put the chia in with the oats, then put the boiling water in and let it sit so the chia could get all mushy too

We had some of the kids stay at our place for post-prom last night and one of the kids’ mom came over with breakfast this morning. She had made scotch eggs for them. I had 2. So fucking good.

Oatmeal
Dad when you make your oatmeal in the morning, do you use water or some sort of milk alternative?
i use water. i might have tried to use almond milk in the past, but water more often than anything else.
are you more into the milk alternatives?
I use water too
But use almond milk for over night oats. I’ve done half water and half almond milk for the crockpot though
do you make overnight oats to last for several days? so far i've only made enough for two mornings.
Yeah sometimes I’ll just do an assembly line for the entire work week. I’ve done them one or two days at a time too, but then I’m just rewashing things. If you make them for 3-5 days in advance, I’ve found that the later ones are a bit thicker bc they’ve absorbed every ounce of liquid by that point. So adding a small splash of almond milk that morning helps

What brand oats do you use?
i use the aldi knockoff, Millville quick oats, and the Millville Old Fashioned rolled oats when i've done the overnight.
my wife has been sending me a ton of plant-based and/or vegan tiktoks and a lot of people swear by the Bob's Red Mill for overnight oats.
what about you?
Yeah I use Red Mill. I’m currently going through some Quaker oats. Not a fan. Tried the Natures Path too. Haven’t heard of any of the brands you named, I’ll be on the lookout
