Randomly came back into this thread and re-read the last few pages. Sadly, I haven't gotten back around to a second playthrough but reading through our reactions brought all of the power and emotion of the game right back to me. It's almost an ache. Gotta play both games again soon.

If people find it redundant or even not as good as the game then they won't like it and it won't be a lucrative product.. and you know how actively vindictive pissed off gamers can be. Seems risky.

I've yet to see a movie or TV adaptation from a game that was actually good...ever. I'm hoping this one can turn the tide a bit but my expectations are appropriately set going it (very low). Trailer is okay.
The series will depend entirely on the strength of the characters and their performances.
The genre's tropes has been played out so many times in film and TV over the past decade. The visuals look a little flat/cheap to me, but that music and audio cues bring back so many memories of that first playthrough.

I don't see a thread on Part I. Anyway, I bought the remake a couple nights ago and started back in. So great. I don't recall what improvements were made to the mechanics, combat, crafting, etc., but everything feels damn good.

The remake was gorgeous visually, but I could absolutely see and feel where significant gameplay improvements were made for Part II. Considering the game itself along with its mechanics/gameplay (which really weren't updated at all for the remake) are 10 years old it still holds up pretty well for a replay or two.

It’s been a while since I played II so I’ve forgotten most of its mechanics. Which is good for my playthrough of I!

Just finished Part I. It was just as impactful as the first playthrough (#giraffes) but what really stood out in stark contrast to my first go-round is that Joel is much less sympathetic, especially having knowledge of Part II. I remember feeling triumphant at rescuing Ellie from those monstrous doctors the first time. This time, it was just a sick feeling.
