Just finished that (*both laugh*) interview with Jeff.
"Sweet Boy" is about his recently deceased dog. B is a monster.
Also, "Life" is a Flipper cover. Had no idea, but it makes sense. Faithful to the original in spirit. Really dig it more and more each listen, along with the whole album.

All the talk about the new Ed album last week made me decide to pick up I Should Be Outside, which is the first Jeff album I've given more than a cursory listen. It's not too bad. The vocals are fine. I'm rarely drawn to a singer based on technical ability, much preferring expressiveness or interesting textural choices with the voice. Jeff doesn't really deliver on either account, but neither is his singing awful. His voice is fairly plain and straightforward when not masked by effects; a simple and unremarkable rock singer.
He does some interesting things with texture and melody, especially on "Lightmoves," "O.O.F.," and "Bandwidth." What I can make out of the lyrics are nothing noteworthy, but Jeff's always been a little on the nose with his wordplay.
