Folklore/Evermore has piqued my interest in The National once again.
Trouble Will Find Me was the last album of theirs I've heard. Really not sure if I should just do a revisit of their catalog up to that point or check out the newer albums.
I realize it's not a zero sum thing, but I wanted to post that choice for discussion anyway.
well, given that those 2 albums are the ones that piqued your interest, you may want to start with their last one and work backwards.
Yup. I am Easy to Find is where it's at. When Folklore came out it felt like a sister album to it.

Sleep Well Beast and I Am Easy To Find are duo albums like Kid A/Amnesiac for me. Very similar sounds and production choices. The former on the darker and the latter on the lighter side. I very much prefer Sleep Well Beast.
I love SWB and i just cant get into IAETF. Its the whole guest vocalist stuff maybe im not sure, but bores the hell out of me.
I don't mind the guest vocals on IAETF as much as I used to, but I don't know if I'll ever forgive them for what they did to Rylan. It was better with just Matt.

the new rylan blow the old, boring snoozefest out of the water.
it's a perfect paradigm of the band as a whole (layered and bringing us just to the edge of where it can take off, but then it lands gracefully).

I’ve never seen them perform it in person. I’m guessing you have. I’d still take this version any day over the album.
