Anybody have an idea on how the Vicky bullshit is going to effect future reissues? I was about to plunk down for DOTU on vinyl, but then saw this article in which Kim says they'd remaster the album for the 25th anniversary this year. Of particular interest is this quote:
Quote:
"But we do have the tapes, so one thing we could do is a 5.1 surround-sound mix. We're definitely going to remaster it, though, because that record was always so fuckin' midrange-y, which kept it from being as exciting as some of those songs could be."
I've always felt that album lacked the drama that the more punchy bottom end and crispy top end gave to Superunknown. And the possibility of a AAA remaster has me salivating... But is this actually going to happen or what?

didn't they just remaster it like 5 years ago through Bob Ludwig?
but it's a good question, and a question in the larger sense. as far as the Vicky situation – and this is pure speculation on my end – i wouldn't see why that would stop them from remastering / repressing. they'll be paying those royalties anyway for future pressings and sales. whether she tries and wedge herself into the process more than they'd like, i guess that's a whole other question.
either way, i'd imagine they won't move a single step forward until all of this is resolved

Didnt they almost planned a 'louder than love' boxset or something? i remember Matt posting videos on Instagram of unreleased vault tracks from those sessions...

I think DOTU is already remastered when they re released it on vinyl a few years ago. Sounds amazing. Not sure if they were planning another one...as for the LTL box, i wasnt aware but its the only one they havent touched yet, so yeah i can see it coming.
Kim also talked about the early demos and songs, lots of stuff like that that werent included on Echo Of Miles.

Well she does have some big plans for the future:
Defendants’ buyout offer ascribed little to zero value to future merchandise and tour earnings despite the increase of wide spread public interest in the Band since Chris’ passing, as is often the case when a musician of Chris’ iconic stature passes away. A good-faith valuation would account for the significant revenues to be earned from the Band’s merchandise sales and account for the lucrative, nostalgia-fueled projects that follow the passing of rock and roll icons – e.g., future tours using a replacement lead singer (as Queen did by substituting Adam Lambert for Freddie Mercury); posthumous concert appearances by a hologram of Chris (as Tupac Shakur, Michael Jackson, and Elvis Presley have profitably performed); and deep-fake renditions of Chris’ vocals drawn from extant recordings by artificial intelligence that could mint brand new Soundgarden hits
I waded in that Lipstick Alley thread. What a bizarre, nasty place.
Vicky Cornell strikes me as an unpleasant woman. But I have no idea why people get so invested in all of this drama. This might be a bit misogynist but there's always been a predominantly female section of the Chris Cornell fanbase that is borderline stalkerish, and this was true before his death.

great!
In other news Taylor Momsen was a guest in the eddie truck podcast talking about her new album, the song she did with Kim and Matt and that she would absolutely say yes if they want her in the band.

Im still not sure if I would like them to proceed under a different name with a different singer. I would support the guys in whatever they do, I would buy all their projects. And I would love to see them play together on benefit shows or whatever. But to form a new band with a different singer, I just dont know. Somehow it doesnt feel right to me. I would support Ben reforming Hater as a more functional unit, or any other band. I would buy all Matt projects and solo records. Well, maybe Ill have to see it first. I just dont know.

i would lost my mind...is basically what im expecting them to do after the cornell tribute. Those 3 guys have so much chemistry, they all wrote songs for SG so it would be natural.

If it would keep Vickie from getting a penny, I’ll definitely support them if they’re not Soundgarden. I mean, I would anyway, but that would seem like a good reason not to continue to call yourselves Soundgarden.

I would be cool with the Nudedragons name since they've already got a history with it

Got lucky and found the Bad Motorfinger Super Deluxe CD/DVD set on ebay last year for $60 sans the blu ray. What a set! The demo disc and Paramount shows are sofa king awesome. Live From The Artists Den has also been in the rotation lately. I miss SG so damn much.
