A little taken aback by the response to Daft Punk's split. I knew they were a popular band but didn't know they were this widely and intensely beloved.
One of the best shows I ever attended was their set at BUE some 15 years ago

I think there's a real meta-appreciation for them, almost like a modern Steely Dan thing. Music lovers of all stripes find something great to latch onto with Daft Punk; they've got enormous crossover appeal.

I very much enjoy the Daft Punk I have. Not too fussed that I'm not going to get any more.
I'd love one more record. RAM was such a high water mark in a career that demonstrated constant evolution, I'm just so curious to know what the next one would have sounded like.

I know John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band were a Springsteen rip but they have a handful of songs that I really love.
Too bad the proper original soundtrack is so hard to find.
Yeah all their stuff is pretty hard to find. It's a shame too because outside of maybe catching a spin of On The Darkside on the 80's on 8 channel on Sirius they are mostly forgotten. Their non Eddie and the Cruiser stuff is good too. It's more 80's than that soundtrack with some synth lines instead of piano and some gated drums and digital sounding bass but some of the songs underneath are really good. I have to imagine the Eddie and the Cruisers thing was a blessing and a curse. It was their big break but it had to make marketing for their other albums a bitch.

Not sure how random it is since this is often on my mind but goddamn every time I listen to Exile on Main Street, like at this moment, I’m swept away by it. This is the definition of great rock n roll music.
