I firmly believe the original plan was to release Gigaton and then do the first leg of the tour and then release another all new Pearl Jam album before the next leg of that tour. Covid-19 obviously derailed that. But I truly think that was the original plan.
If I had to guess now, I'd say something similar could happen. They'll do one leg of a tour once that's allowed and possible. Then drop the new record before the next leg.
I definitely remember there being alot of talk of a potential second album sortly after Gigaton was released. So not a complete surprise but would be f*cking great to get another new release sometime this year.
That's a cool song. Better than several on the album.
I think it's better than all of them.
I'm coming around to this -- I enjoyed this song but kind of shrugged it off after the first listen, but I've been listening to it a lot this week. It's great; I think I like it better than all but two or three songs on Gigaton.
It really appeals to the part of me that likes to pretend Riot Act-era PJ never died.
I mean i get it....but the whole COVID thing and being stuck at home with nothing else to do over the last year makes it seem at least a bit more likely.

there's a global pandemic on, the world is about to be swallowed by the sea, and Gigaton was an alright album for the first time in years; while I'm not sitting here holding my breath to wait for a new album, I don't think "what has PJ always done?" is the best question to be asking in predicting where they'll go next

It's probably the best Pearl Jam song in about 10+ years, but I guess there's no accounting for taste.
(In reference to Get It Back)
I don’t know exactly how I compare this song to the others. I can agree with the 10+ years comment other than Gigaton itself. This song is... different. But man every time I hear it I like it even more, and it probably is on par with just about anything on Gig for me. Maybe. Love the song.
I wouldn’t describe it as on par with anything on Gigaton, but I like it more than a lot of Lightning Bolt, and it gives me hope to know that this record had castoffs worthy of Lost Dogs. Frankly, that’s as shocking as anything else.
I get the Riot Act comparison (and probably like it more than a track like Love Boat Captain).
I put Get it Back in between WES and SBWM. Love it. Fucking hell Pearl Jam, thanks for the first good new album since I've been a fan. I needed this. It's hard to become a fan around 2006, listening to Ten-S/T, then getting BS and LB.
I didn't really think Get It Back fit well on Gigaton until I did this, too. Thank you so much for the suggestion. It fits perfectly and makes the album even better.
Not to say I *love* every single thing they've ever done, but I've identified with them since I first heard them in 1991 as a 13-year-old and I'm so grateful to have had them soundtracking my life ever since.
I couldn't be happier that they've released the music they've released in the past year. Gigaton was a gift as far as I'm concerned. Bring on more new music -- I'm game!
yeah, and it was so fucking weird to listen to gigaton and being the perfect soundtrack of the lockdown. It was super creepy. The lyrics were spot on with what was going on at that time.

This literally describes me (and my opinion of Gigaton) to a t.
I wasn't super excited about new music from the band after LB. Gigaton has taken me on a complete 180 in that regard.
