The board's server will undergo upgrade maintenance tonight, Nov 5, 2014, beginning approximately around 10 PM ET. Prepare for some possible down time during this process.
If they really release new music in the near feature, maybe they should continue to stop touring even after covid... If that is what motivates them to write.
not at all, they are eager to come back to the live shows. Ed says they want to premiere these songs on a live setting, thats why they havent done any stream show.
I think the album is kinda donde....Rob talked about it like it was a sure thing.
Other tidbits? well, they talked a little bit about the home shows, the money they could give from those shows, Mike has been recording a lot because of the pandemic, they havent seen eachother in a long time but they have been working pretty tight it seems. Cant remember more.
I’d really like another album before a tour, mostly because they ended up in a great place, maybe in large part due to Josh Evans, but they could use to capitalize on that.
At the end of the day though, their bread and butter is transforming those songs to a live setting. They can embrace the challenge of touring on two new albums. Not that they should anyway fall back into a standard set, but it might be nice once they can tour to have less focus on those first five albums and concentrate on a lot of new material while mixing in the classics they’ve toured on for 30 years. I get that many fans don’t get their money’s worth if they don’t get some combination of Jeremy, Alive, Black, Daughter, Better Man, Given to Fly, Do the Evolution, Even Flow, etc., but I think it would be fun to get a band playing enough new material that it feels like they have something to prove rather than a glorified party. Don’t get me wrong, the shows are great as they are, but especially here I feel like there’s a hunger for a Pearl Jam pushing a vibe more in tune with determination to bring songs to their brink than turning everything into a song along. I really think the way to accomplish that, if that is what they want, is to focus on new material - and more of it would help that cause.
well, it was good to hear that they want to flesh out these new songs live. As much as i want a live stream of PJ, i also love the fact that they are saving these for a live treatment.
This uptick in Gigaton talk made me put it on today during lunch. I usually listen to it in my car so I miss a lot of the dynamics being in a noisy car. It sounds great and this is a great album.

VG I have no evidence but a lot of Pj stuff on Spotify sounds like entirely different mixes. Quite a few times I’ve noticed it. And I don’t notice that stuff usually.

Well, I didn't mean this is what would make THEM happy individually. I think it would be the best choice for Pearl Jam to focus more on being creative than touring for the 1000th time if it leads to smaller than 7 year periods between albums.
According to that Ed/Mike interview last week, yes, before they start touring again.
what's this now?
Ed and Mike called into Pj Radio. Rob asked them about new music and Ed said yes that absolutely there would be more new music by the time they get to tour. "We ain't just sitting around" i believe is what he also said.

well all right then
New Pearl Jam music ?? Or are we talking new music as in solo/side projects they are working on
I firmly believe the original plan was to release Gigaton and then do the first leg of the tour and then release another all new Pearl Jam album before the next leg of that tour. Covid-19 obviously derailed that. But I truly think that was the original plan.
If I had to guess now, I'd say something similar could happen. They'll do one leg of a tour once that's allowed and possible. Then drop the new record before the next leg.
