Inside Job benefitted a lot from the Spotify master. It feels more dynamic and climactic. I still cringe at that “on my knees to rise and fix my broken soul again” (or whatever the line is) moment where it sounds like everyone is trying to figure out the new key in real time, but I like it a lot more since that version came out than I did for the first 10 years it existed.
I love the avocado album front to back. Inside Job is a lesser song on the album for me. BUT I remember being excited about it potentially signposting where the band might go in the future - more expansive, longer tracks. And then they released Backspacer haha.

We’re in this together. Gigaton seems like an expansion of this album in many ways, though I would argue it is stronger than the self-titled record. I do love both of these albums.

I actually see Avocado and Gigaton as two alternate perspectives stemming from Riot Act, which was of course a product of world events that we are all still reeling from in a lot of ways. Considering the climate Riot Act came from, it makes sense that an immediate statement and a far removed one would have much different perspectives.
Avocado is full of knee jerk reactions to the world portrayed in Riot Act. Anger, aggression, contempt, and a bit of sorrow and regret. The one good thing I'll say about Inside Job is that the sentiment in that song reins all that negativity in.
Gigaton is what it feels like when your soul makes it through Riot Act relatively unscathed and with a more balanced grasp of the chaos around you.

Yeah I never really thought of that before, but Gigaton is probably the album I thought/hoped would follow Avocado in terms of the trajectory PJ were on. I guess at least we got there in the end.

Alright You Are Supersonic Let The Records Play Future Days Pendulum Retrograde Quick Escape Getaway Inside Job
Hey Mike, I hate your list. Infallible and LTRP are two of the few songs on LB I genuinely like. You Are might be my favorite song on Riot Act. Quick Escape is definitely top 3 on Gigaton. You should re-listen and do a better job.

I did enough listening to these songs. I actually don't really hate any of them. I just couldn't think of any I like less.
