Nah it's about Medicare for all and Pelosi keeping the speaker position. Requires a bit of explaining for those not following the DSA types.
Cool man, DSA is usually a bit much for me, but I like some.
Since it's her thread, I will say I hope she gives thanks to "the right" in her '24/28/32 inauguration speech (just don't WHEN she'll run). They're a big part of her celebrity status and she's savvy enough to use it to her own advantage.

- Dore and company came up with an idea to have congressional progressives force a vote on Medicare for all by refusing to vote for Pelosi as speaker if she refused.
- it couldn't pass, but they give many solid reasons why they should do it anyway.
- it really takes off online. #forcethevote spreads.
- AOC, The Squad, and controlled opposition like The Young Turks refuse to do it, coming up with the most pathetic excuses and outright lies (no, this wouldn't result in a Republican becoming speaker as Cenk says).
- the socialists turn on them and start ratioing people like AOC and Cenk, which leads AOC to start crying about "violence" against her.
- they all vote for Pelosi and leave M4A advocates in the cold.
- fast forward to last week and she's now making precisely the same arguments for impeachment that Dore made against her as if it never happened.
- people point this out, but I doubt she'll respond.

everytime I see "ratio" I have to look it up. I keep forgetting why it's used.

I got about 2 minutes in, but there was no thesis or theme to the video. No point. Just AOC says something and the host acts mockingly shocked. I'm not sure if he eventually gets into a counterpoint or two, but I'm not willing to spend 14 more minutes waiting to see.
I didn't see Burt's post, but I get it. That video's about hating Pelosi, not hating AOC?

That style is like 90% of late night tv and news/comedy shows now.

Vote forcing is a late stage legislation tactic. Doing it early, when you don’t even maybe have the votes, means no pressure or suspense is created by the move. People who will vote the proposal down when it really matters can safely vote yes, and then use the “I believe in this dream and I voted yes the first time they brought it up” schtick on Chuck Todd’s show, or whatever, after they burn you. You’ve gifted them that out in exchange for nothing.
I can’t disagree with anyone who argues that the younger class of Democrats has been too quick to mistake folks like Nancy Pelosi for agenda allies. But getting big ticket legislation passed isn't equatable to the politics of impeachment in any meaningful way. Pretending it is probably makes for high engagement content, though.

Late night is just old guys reading tweets now? I honestly don't know.
His shows were live at comedy clubs before Covid, but that died, so now its just an old man yelling with some of his friends. i kinda prefer this. Audience participation always makes me cringe.

If you're still confused, this is the exact same argument for forcing a vote on medicare that AOC has been resisting for a month or two. She uses this exact argument to force impeachment because she has the memory of a goldfish.

She actually made those same arguments about both Medicare for all and GND last year. She’s just like working the system... it’s how things get done and it’s the right move. She didn’t last term and was a total failure from a legislative perspective, so good on her for learning

yeah, Dore pointed out that, too. She'll make a fine career politician I guess. To what purpose is she working the system? maybe she's being worked?
