You're pretty much safe.

Well, the Wall and Dark Side of the Moon

You left out the best one.

I'm sure you mean Animals. But if this was ten years ago you'd mean Wish You Were Here.

Because of the music that we have in common I'd strongly suggest starting with Hunky Dory if you're looking for a full album.

Animals and Wish You Were Here are both better than Meddle, but I think Meddle may better serve as a gateway to learning more about the band. Meddle feels more like a dive down the rabbit hole while Animals and Wish You Were Here to me are very obvious. My argument doesn’t hold up very well upon too much inspection though.

I'm still pretty early in my own Talking Heads journey, somehow. I started with their greatest hits and then moved on to True Stories. That led to More Songs About Buildings and Food which then led to Talking Heads: 77. Those are the only Talking Heads records I own.

I love all three of those albums but I also feel like I'm still in the process of really dissecting and appreciating them. Back when I first started this journey I kept getting distracted by other artists. So while I claim that I really like this band, I really don't know a ton about them.

Once you get to Remain In Light, you've got to be sure to check out the closely related Byrne/Eno side project My Life In The Bush of Ghosts:

Both albums used a rudimentary tape loop process, whereby tape would literally be run all around the room (using some wacky DIY tape spool setups), and fed through the mixing console. They would use the faders and mute buttons to trigger loops, then lay live shit on top of it. Amazing, groundbreaking stuff.

It took me a bit to find this thread, so please, serious answers only from someone who knows what they're talking about:

Where do I get started with Leonard Cohen? I really only know a few of his songs, and most of them are covers. Give me some tips.

His catalog is small, just start at the beginning and go forward. Most of his albums are very good. With the exception of Death of a Ladies' Man, his '70's albums are all relatively sparse and acoustic-based, with various flourishes; starting with 1984's Various Positions, the sound becomes very synth/Casio-keyboard-effect heavy, but his voice also becomes much fuller and more commanding.

If you want a quick overview, The Essential Leonard Cohen was my intro and is perfect.

I heard this cover of The Night of Santiago recently, and it's really got me champing at the bit for more:

Songs of Love and Hate and I'm Your Man are both considered bonafide classics. His more recent Popular Problems was a beautiful entry with some new production elements (the True Detective S1 song came from this album).

I think one of the big ones I'm still trying to crack and haven't been able to yet is Bjork.
