It is heartwarming to see people rally in defense of "Thin Air," an unfairly derided song
I actually had no idea that "Thin Air" was anything other than beloved -- at least, by everyone other than Stip and the everything-after-Vitalogy-and-before-S/T-is-just-too-weird-for-me crowd.

I am about to turn on two stereo systems
one playing Thin Air and one playing Retrograde
at the same time

this song is definitely about having anonymous hitchhiker sex
Quote:
On the side of the road Lost and alone To get it back
Much farther to go So far from home To get it back
Frozen in time Turn on a dime To get it back
Try to reach you before winter comes Always a place for you in my heart
You're not alone All used up I'd give anything to talk to you
The prodigal son The only one To get it back
The mother and child They’re lost for a while They want you back

Pretty cool song. I like the chill first main part he most. Absolutely do not care for the solo. Unpopular opinion: I don't care for Josh Evans production. It might be better than Brendan on Lightning Bolt but holds no candle to Brendan's earlier work with Pearl Jam. It sound super sterile and artificial to me and often times way too busy where everything is just one big mush of sound.

I agree 100% with that statement with regard to this song specifically; I noticed it immediately. But I don't think it applies to Gigaton.
From a production standpoint, I'd still say their best sounding album is Riot Act or Vs, followed closely by Binaural.

Ok it does sounds good, technically
Everything is falling into place...
Sometimes I put Thin Air on when I can’t fall asleep and within 2 repeat listens I’m zonked out. It’s PJ melatonin.
