I just think you should be losing your shit on this one. It's quite good and right up your alley, it would seem.

It's a little too samey and quiet for me to lose my shit over it. But it's really good. And I imagine it'll only get better with time.

I'm not in love with the instrumentals section but it's decent work music.

Oh my, oh my. David Nance and Co do it again.

Quote:
Twelve inches of evidence of a whirlwind Philadelphia weekend.. They wrote & recorded the record and played a gig and consumed a few dozen burritos & a pile of beer and shipped a fella back to Omaha.. The audacious ad-hoc 4 piece ragged combo put in the sleepless 48 hours and this is what we get: 2 raw sides of electric rock action jammed with all the humbucked girth, single-coil screech & low down thud a Tascam 388 can handle. Today’s necessary palate cleanser. Recorded & mixed by Emily Robb, mastered by Mikey Young.

listening to Beabadoobee, "Fake It Flowers" lately - very 90s, somewhat summery alt rock

First song lasted 15 seconds, songs 2 + 3 barely 10 secs.

Nope. Not for me.

Man I've also gotten a bit more impatient and curmudgeonly about music as I've gotten older but I sure am glad I'm not at the point where I'm deciding if I like a song after less than 10 seconds

Without hearing the album in question, I don't think this is at all related to age or curmudgeonliness, but rather having A) digested enough music to have a decent idea of what's going to tickle your fancy, and B) having been turned off by enough music that you have learned to recognize its tropes and quickly move on.

Like, there are certain productions elements I'll hear -- mostly in the rock category -- that I can confidently ascertain within seconds if I want to keep listening or not. I've been that way since like 1997.

Jorge, your comments made me re-evaluate this.

I pressed play again and after 5 seconds I turned it off. Sometimes you just know.

Whatever it is, I'm being sincere when I say I am glad my brain doesn't work like this, or at least not yet. A lot of music I love is stuff I was initially uncomfortable, annoyed, or dismissive about. And even the stuff I hate I think deserves more of a shot than ten seconds

Well to clarify, I don't hear discomforting music in remotely the same way I hear boring music. I'm immediately intrigued by the former; immediately dismissive of the latter.

Some things that are boring I give a chance to always to grow.

Things that are annoying or irritating within 10 seconds? F a bunch of that
