1) Fixed a toilet seat
2) Put a new hose on a dehumidifier
3) Attached a corrugated drain tube to an AC condensate drain - very humid last few days and was looking more like a water fountain. needed to get the water away from the foundation
4) Reorganized the shed

i did actually have real plumbers in here this week to (finally) do my tankless water heater install. the new system looks pretty badass
hilariously
they were supposed to do this 2 weeks ago but the morning of i get a call from the guy saying one of their dudes has bad headaches and a fever
in the interest of caution they sent him to the hospital and i was like 'let's just hold off for a while'
i get a call later - the guy had food poisoning. taco bell the night before
classic

digging trenches is exhausting
i ordered like a hundred crocus bulbs when i blacked out in covid lockdown in apri and they all arrived recently and after carefully planting about a third i just dug a huge curvy channel with a pickaxe and threw the rest in

i was transplanting a tree last weekend and starting digging the new hole and realized it was solid wood
there had been a tree there before that was cut down
it must have been something huge, and hard - like a maple or an oak
i got the axe and just went to work
at a point was so exhausted and it was barely budging and i channeled some inner chi and pushed through
i still have blisters on my left hand
these hands were not made for manual labor

Plumbers are coming today to add a shower riser to our tub, replace a couple toilets and fix a leaking cast iron pipe in the basement.
I'm starting to get anxious that we're fucking up our main bathroom. We had the remodel guy from the plumbing company come out a couple months ago to look at it. We have a tub, original 1960s tile/grout (in great shape) to about waist height, then plaster on rock lathe to the ceiling. He suggested installing cultured marble (engineered stone) shower panel walls above the tile, beveled and caulked over the lip of the tile to create a seal. But the shower panel guys just glued it to the walls with silicone. Seems like it would be pretty easy for moisture to collect between the plaster and the marble, no?

i've got a bunch of workers all standing around huddled together overlooking what was a buried electrical box for our sprinkler system that falls directly in the footprint of the new front walkway that they're installing that they obviously don't know what to do with. i'm guessing that this isn't going to end well.
*edit: one of them is a spitting image of a mexican gimli from lord of the rings.
