I think Disney are far too clever with big IP like this to let it jump the shark. On tv or on film. It’s not happening I’d say.
This, from back in November of last year:

According to some report (a want to say it was in Rolling Stone?) Kathleen Kennedy said that they have a director for the Star Wars film scheduled in 2021. She also said that it's not the Feige project or one of Rian's films. That's interesting to me. So they have a release date of 2021. They have a director. Feige's not involved.
What do we think this movie is? I'm going to be the first here to guess that it's The Mandalorian. Directed by Favreau.
Season 1 (now) in 2019. Season 2 (already announced) in 2020. All leading to a feature film in 2021?

And then this from May of this year:

And I wouldn't be surprised if this series isn't long for the world. I really think you're gonna see like 3 (MAYBE 4) seasons and a movie.

That guys joe?
When the fuck did that happen?
While you’re all clairvoyant will you tell me what’s in store for my next three seasons? Please?
Seriously tho, a film? After three Presumably successful Seasons, is jumping the shark. Mandalorian could well be the biggest series in the world at that stage. I doubt it given the way it’s locked into Disney+. But a film is too far.
Unless they use it to wrap up tons of threads woven and left dangling across three seaso......

There was a Disney blurb somewhere the other day saying all their focus is now on content for the streaming service. I doubt even covid has all that much to do with that But more than likely has solidified it. None of us know when we’re going to be in a movie theatre again so I’d say a film is doubtful. They have a slate of SW films first due in 2022. Normally they start two years out working on them. Not a peep. The mando ‘rumour’ -not even a rumour it was a speculative question in an interview is all, doesn’t really fit as their first release in that slate
I do think their focus should be streaming content right now. I'm fine with that.
But there will be films again some day. Whether that's next year or five years from now. And it won't surprise her if The Mandalorian is one of them. Especially if it's popularity continues to grow on the streaming service. Now, if S2 shits the bed, well...

What’s the significance of “dimejinky99”? How did you arrive at that username?
I was ~17 and working in a gas station I had to cycle 5 miles to for opening at 6am. On the Back wall of bolands mill(historic Dublin site. I’ll leave you look it up) someone had sprayed Dime Jinky
It was just so nonsensical and random I took it to be a username. I often wonder who the guy was and what it meant. I’ll never know. And here we are. I always thought he just spelled Junky wrong. As often happens with goons with a spray can. But who knows.

Think on this another way Sitting down in a cinema to watch a new Star Wars is one of the more exciting thrilling experiences we can have.
Now imagine sitting down in a cinema after all this to watch a new one.
I’d say studios are quietly racing to be first out the gate with a new release. That film whatever it is, could break all records.
