The board's server will undergo upgrade maintenance tonight, Nov 5, 2014, beginning approximately around 10 PM ET. Prepare for some possible down time during this process.
Way too much cock rock on Facelift: Put You Down, I Know Somethin (bout you) and Real Thing to close the album end it with a particularly egregious diarrhea splatter.
I'll give you the first two but Real Thing is good especially live. 10 killer songs out of 12 is a pretty good ratio.
I mean, I don't like Sea of Sorrow or Love Hate Love either but I didn't mention those because I can at least see how someone else might be into them.

Good call, I think both are pretty basic but sound good. They don't disrupt the album.

Thanks! This was definitely worth listening. I had not heard any of these bands before. There were couple really nice versions - my favorite was probably Dam That River by Low Flying Hawks. I wish the other bands had taken same kind of creative chances with their interpretations instead of following the original arrangement so loyally.
Looks like Facelift is getting a 30th anniversary reissue on vinyl (remastered audio). Christ, 30 years, I remember watching Man In A Box over and over on MTV. Purchased.

Full disclosure I am not a vinyl guy and maybe that’s the answer.
That said, I don’t really understand the appeal of all this reissue stuff. Are there “new” unreleased songs? If not aren’t you just buying something you already have?
I think there’s a certain charm to any given album and the way it sounds as originally recorded using 19XX era technology (assuming it’s a decent recording).
I already have SAP on vinyl with Jar Of Flies. The Facelift reissue...yeah, i love the fact that is going to be available on vinyl again, but there isnt new music or demos or nothing...the Box Set is basically the album with some books and other stuff.
