Had two great live seminars these last month, one with Mark Duplass and today it was Jeff Nichols. Super great guys, talking about creativity and whats going on with the movie and tv business today.
Yesterday, a great zoom with a movie producer who taught us about different ways of distribution.
Duplass said he is working on lots of things right now, and maybe a third season of Togetherness. Nichols talked about the movies he made, working with Jessica Chastain and praised Michael Shannon.

yeah, really cool to hear both Duplass and Nichols talk about their craft. Two very different guys for sure, Mark seems super enthusiastic about everything and Jeff seems very low key. But both of them believes in making their project with very low budgets.
The distribution seminar was awesome really. Its such a confusion and huge world out there to have your movie out, it was good someone talk about it.

Netflix is finalizing negotiations to acquire Joe Wright's The Woman in the Window from Disney.
This was the final film produced under the Fox Searchlight banner, but Disney has been unable to release it due to Covid. I really like the talent involved but I'm a bit wary of the fact that, before Covid was even a thing, the film had already been delayed for "significant retooling" after negative test audience reactions to the first cut. We'll see

In other news: Ratched looks godawful. Who wants a backstory on Nurse Ratched that looks like a Barry Sonnenfeld movie? And they make her all moustache-twirly, there was none of that in the original book or movie.

The Disney + channel just announced today you can see their new movie Mulan in the premium section of their service for 29.99. So that’s on top of your monthly subscription fee. They aren’t just doing that for this one film. This is a move away from cinemas and not just owing to covid.
