Tim Smith, founder of English rock band Cardiacs, died on July 21 at 59. He sadly spent the last 12 years of his life suffering from dystonia, a neurological condition that was caused by an incident of full cardiac arrest that deprived his brain of oxygen for too long. I don't know his music all that well, but I know that it was greatly influential on Mike Vennart (Oceansize, British Theatre, Vennart), one of my favorite musicians.

Only if you're Alanis Morissette.

That fact is indeed just like rain on one's wedding day.

Fucked up today. Don’t expect anyone here to know why.
The peacemaker and the man that got us to peace and a road to Unity.
The Good Friday Agreement is his design and life’s work.
He won the Nobel peace prize for his lifelong efforts. True mountain of a man.
John Hume. RIP

I ran a quick obituary of his on the news in Boston today. I led into it with "the world lost a peace-maker today"

Exactly that. Clinton was on the radio here today talking at length about what Hume achieved not only getting Sinn Féin and the Ira and the British but also America to get involved to get it home. Clinton was instrumental in the gfa but he used it a map for other conflicts like in Israel and put it all down to Hume.

No end of world leaders and their combative opponents paying tribute to him today but weirdly and rather beautifully I haven’t seen Ireland north and south grieve and show respect to anyone in such a way as we are today. It’s so sad but so brilliant.

‘He was Ireland’s Martin Luther King’.

Nail on the head

Are you actually on-air? Or do you write copy for other hosts?
