The board's server will undergo upgrade maintenance tonight, Nov 5, 2014, beginning approximately around 10 PM ET. Prepare for some possible down time during this process.
Wife never watched My So Called to Life when it was on originally. Just watched the first two episodes with her and she's just as hooked and impressed as I knew she'd be.
great show glad to hear its aged well....
It's amazing how visceral and modern it is. There are cheesy 90s TV camera movies and it could benefit from an HD or 4K transfer (or whatever it is folks do to make old shows look better now; I'm not up on all of that digital restoration stuff). But in terms of acting/writing/content this thing feels fresh and vital, still.
It's also crazy how much of it I remember. This show really hit and stuck with me. It's also crazy being able to watch it now and feel very different feelings, not just about the characters, but about myself. Thinking back on 15/16 year old me and what I thought/felt watching it for the first time is wild.
And my wife is blown away by the show. She said multiple times that she genuinely couldn't imagine what it must have been like to be 15 watching this. She already understands why people freak out about it so much and we're only 2 episodes in!

I think a lot of 90s shows were filmed on video tape and it's hard to impossible to upgrade without spending major cash on the process. My So Called Life and The Byrds of Paradise were two shows I was super into in '94 that got the axe after one season.

Yeah I haven't seen it or even heard anything about it since '94. I remember talking about the show in class and this kid was like why are you always going on and on about that show and I was like have you seen Jennifer Love Hewitt?!?! I think I'm the only person in the world holding to that show.
The Byrds of Paradise was unique in the inclusion of the local culture of Hawaii in the lives of the originally mainland Byrd family, rather than their maintaining a lifestyle nearly indistinguishable from that on the mainland with Hawaii's tropical scenery serving primarily as an attractive background.

They're missing out on BCS again Rhea Seehorn still not nominated!!!! And neither Jonathan Banks nor Bob Odenkirk was nominated, wow
Also they nominated... Gus? Weird
Very odd, Gus is fine but didn't have nearly the role the other three had this year. Rhea Seehorn is the best actor and Kim Wexler is the most compelling character on any current television show, I don't know how they're missing this

Sometimes it feels like they're not actually watching the shows they nominate. Like that time Michael McKean delivered an incredible season-long acting masterclass and the Emmy voters nominated... Jonathan Banks, who is great but didn't really get much to do all season aside from look sleepy

Guys all these awards shows are based on ad campaigns and favors. Agents and publicists and producers angling to advance careers or do someone a solid. It’s really that simple.
