This is one of my favorite examples of how action scenes are staged in 70s flicks, and why they’re so much better than modern movies: lots of wide shots, no pumped up sound effects. When Popeye O’Doyle punches someone, he doesn’t look like a superhero; he looks like a regular dude who can be a bit scrappy.

I watched the first 30 minutes of Inception last night, first time I’ve seen it in a while. Forgot how much I love the music, and the general concept is still so cool. But I’m not so sure that Leo is great in this.

Jojo Rabbit. First new (to me) movie I have seen in a while. I would have liked to have seen the sale pitch for this one: "Okay, Hitler Youth but it's a comedy and the Fuhrer, as an imaginary friend, get some of the best lines. And it will look like a Wes Anderson film".
